Getting people into work

Introduction

In September 2012 the partnership identified that the development of the local economy was a priority, specifically the possibility of rising unemployment in the district. They agreed that a strategy needed to be developed and delivered that would help local people into work.

Chichester in Partnership set up a task and finish group of partner organisations to develop and deliver the strategy. Partners included:

  • Job Centre Plus
  • West Sussex County Council
  • Royal British Legion Industries
  • Chichester College
  • Women's Wisdom
  • Coast to Capital
  • Hyde Martlet
  • Affinity Sutton
  • Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester
  • Chichester District Council

As part of the strategy's development other partner organisations have been consulted with and data has been collated. The main aim of the strategy is to identify the barriers that are stopping people from getting into work and find ways of overcoming them.

The draft strategy has now been written and is available here to read. The strategy will be finalised in June 2012. If you or your organisation would like to be involved in the delivery of this strategy then please use the contact details above.
