Sussex Association of Local Councils (SALC)

Introduction

The Sussex [SALC] & Surrey [SCAPTC] Associations of Local Councils, represents the interests of its 311 member town and parish councils across East and West Sussex and Surrey through affiliation to the National Association of Local Councils [NALC]


 The Sussex and Surrey Associations of Local Councils exist to:

  1. Protect and promote the interests, rights, functions and privileges of member councils.
  2. Assist Councils in the performance of their duties and to promote and develop the social, cultural and recreational life of towns, parishes and villages.
  3. Promote widespread and well-informed interest in Local Government.

SALC / SCAPTC provides advice and guidance on all political developments relevant to Local Government. Access to this advice and guidance from the National Association is available only through membership of SALC / SCAPTC.

SALC / SCAPTC is the first point of contact for all local councils in need of free advice on a range of topics, from legal, financial and technical to general advice, with access to:

  • Publications, such as Local Council Review, containing information and articles on Local Council Affairs, which can be posted direct to subscribers.
  • Training and training courses, SALC / SCAPTC are the lead bodies in the Sussex / Surrey County Training Partnership.
  • Stationery, Leaflets, Circulars, handbooks, forms and notices to facilitate the day-to-day administration of local councils
